What's your highest speed to be able to engage first gear?
As per the subject line. I'm just wondering if this is an mr2 thing but I can't engage first at anything above 2mph. I've got some maintenance planned, currently delayed because my daily driver needs work. Its killing me having the mr2 out in this weather but needs must. Perhaps I should make a separate thread for this next one but with the screws that adjust the lateral position of the side window glass. By lateral, I mean how they engage with the door seals on the centreline to door axis, so you use the top one as a pivot or adjust both in the same direction? Might be self apparent when I get to do it but any advice would be appreciated. At the moment there's a massive gap all the way down the b pillar. I also noticed water entering at the base of the nearside A pillar so a heads up as to where all the drains are would be great.

Obviously I'm an idiot and shouldn't post after a whisky, Title should have been "What's the highest speed that you can engage first gear?"

Re: What's your highest speed to be able to engage first gear?
Sorry couldn't resist leaving a bit in
I'll sort it
There's a section in the BGB on adjusting the door glass in the 1993 BGB it's in section BO-24 (page 1929) there's similar sections in other year BGB's (but section/page numbers may be different) BGB is available in the Downloads section or possibly on this thread LINKY

Had a suspicion you'd done it on purpose to torture me further!
I had seen that but just reading it didn't make it clear to me, reading it again whilst looking at the car might well help.

Re: What's your highest speed to be able to engage first gear?
Sounds like worn synchromesh on the gearbox OR slight clutch drag, however I'd expect other gears to be tricky if it was just clutch.
If you want to be able to get first while going along for hairpins etc. you could learn to double declutch and even heel & toe.
