MK2 15" Tyres?

Post by Steve »

Hi All,

It's been a long time!

I'm going to start the process of getting my MR2 back on the road this year (its been parked in my garage since 2018..). I've got the brake caliper rebuild kits as a start, i'll get other service items and have a start when the weather gets better.

Which brand of tyres are people using on the stock wheels these days for the road? Toyo Proxes TR1's any good?

I always used Goodyear Eagle F1's on my 17's, which i'll probably do again when i decide which 17's i'm going to stick with (Compomotive MO's or refurb the Tom's C7R's as i have 2 sets)

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

Your choices are severely limited for the rear oem size. TR1's are what I'd go for. Seems the only choice nowadays for a matching set all round.

Any excuse for a pic. :)

Not quite. Also the similarly priced Nankang Toursport XR611 or the eye wateringly expensive Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico.
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!
