Front bumper fixing strip?
Hi,
I bought an MR2 mk2 as an unfinished project, I'm starting to put it back together, but I have a feeling some parts are missing! I would like to fit the front bumper, I have holes in the top and sides of the bumper, these align with the holes in the bodyworks slam panel and wings. The trouble is, I don't know what attaches them? I presume there are strips of metal with threaded holes in on the inside edge of the bumper, allowing me to just put a bolt through the bodywork into the bumper? If so, I have no idea what they look like, or where I could find some?
Another thing Im wondering, is how can I find out (if possible) what age the turbo engine is? I presume the engine number holds this info, but I'm not sure.
Thank you Steve

Here's the front bumper parts diagram
You'll find an exploded view of and parts numbers for the front bumper on a 1996 UK MR2 here
http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/199 ... umper-stay
The engine number won't tell you anything about the engine, all Toyota information is through the VIN I don't know of and have never heard of any resource official Mr T or otherwise that holds any information about engine numbers on MR2's relating to age.
Even the official Toyota Electronic Parts Catalogue (the EPC is the parts bible) hold no info on engine numbers, there's not even an entry point for engine numbers.

Thanks for this information on both accounts!
I'll look into this, hopefully I can find the parts I need? A Quick Look suggests 290269-03041, 52535 (RH) & 52636 (LH) The search begins!
Ps, sorry for my delayed response, life's just so busy!

The image I posted was only to show the diagram, it doesn't show the actual part numbers. If you follow the link I posted (shows the same diagram) to the website then click on the part your looking for a pop up will give you the description and part number. Like this
290269-03041 is what Mr T calls a standard part (ie a fastener) the actual part number is 90269-03041
52535 (RH) & 52636 (LH) aren't the full part numbers. so the part number for 52535 (RH) is 52535-17020 and LH is 52536-17020
The top bar (if you need it) is 52521-17020 bottom bar is 52525-17020

Again, thank you for your help and explanation... I seem to be able to find the RH and LH mounting brackets, but no luck with the upper centre one. I could maybe make a strip for the upper mount I guess, I presume it's aluminium like the bottom bar, which I do have.

Can't help with the material, one of the MK2 peeps will know. I do know that on the MK1 all the bumper strips are mild steel

I think this will be my choice really, it's so much easier to work with, and I have a mig welder to fix the nuts onto it.
I can always hammerite it, and a spray of oil prior to fitting.
