1987 Toyota MR2 Mk1 T-Bar – Red, Leather Trim
Description
1987 Toyota MR2 Mk1 T-Bar – Red, Leather Trim, £1,500 - Edenbridge, Kent.
Owned since 2001 (from 85k miles), used as a daily driver until November 2009. Now at 115k miles.
Khan alloys and stainless steel exhaust fitted in late 2002/early 2003. In 2010, two new front wings (and possibly new front bumper) and a new radiator were fitted (all official Toyota parts from dealership) with help from a mechanic friend. Basic spray paint for protection.
The car hasn't been started in approximately a decade and has not been road-driven since 2010. There is noticeable corrosion on the rear arches in particular, and the interior has suffered some water ingress through the T-bar roof — though this has been static since a Stormforce cover was fitted around 2.5 years ago. The driver's seat has probably suffered most. The front of the car has been sheltered under an overhang, so the radiator hopefully should be in reasonable shape.
Timing belt is believed to have been changed at around 65k miles by the previous owner.
I'd love someone to take this on as a restoration project. I love this car and always planned to restore it myself, but circumstances mean I can no longer see that through unfortunately. I'd be really happy if it goes to someone with the ability and passion to get it back on the road again! It was always a very reliable car, let down only by the corrosion these MR2s are sadly prone to, and sitting for too long.
Everything will be included - anything you see missing is either in my shed or in the boot of the car. I have a good Bosch battery that will be included too - only removed as the Thatcham approved immobiliser kept running it down over time!
Photos and a walkaround video are included. Please message me if you're interested and/or want any more detail. Thanks all! :-)
